The Video Art and Experimental Film Festival is looking for Assistant Curators to join the festival’s small, dedicated team. Assistant Curators are expected to work a minimum of 4 hours per week for 4 weeks, after which they will be considered for promotion for the hourly paid position ($15/hour) of Associate Curator.
Joining VAEFF’s team as an assistant curator is a unique opportunity to get firsthand, behind-the-scenes experience with a boundary-pushing film festival in New York City. VAEFF takes the task of evaluating hundreds of submissions from artists worldwide very seriously, and all curatorial decisions come with extensive deliberation and scrutiny.
The ideal candidate for this position should possess a critical eye, a passion for art and film, and strong writing skills. We are looking for self-starters who can work independently and in a team. The majority of the work can be done remotely from home during flexible hours, but candidates must also be prepared to communicate with the director via Skype about once a week.
